About This Music Release

An Oscar Peterson Christmas is a 14-song music release by the legendary Canadian jazz pianist Oscar Peterson. It was released in 1995 by Telarc Jazz.

One of the greatest jazz pianists of all time (1925–2007), Peterson brings his signature swinging, virtuosic touch to this relaxed holiday album—his only full Christmas recording. Backed by a sextet (including strings on select tracks arranged by Rick Wilkins), it features elegant, tasteful interpretations of seasonal standards with intricate interplay and warm solos.

Recorded with Herb Ellis absent but strong support from Dave Young (bass), Jerry Fuller (drums), Lorne Lofsky (guitar), Jack Schantz (flugelhorn), and others, it's praised as a sophisticated, joyful festive classic—sentimental yet swinging, perfect for holiday gatherings.
