About This Music Release
Brothas Doobie is a 13-song music release by Funkdoobiest. It was released on Jul. 4, 1995 by Immortal Records / Epic Street.
Funkdoobiest was a Los Angeles-based Latino hip-hop trio (Son Doobie, DJ Ralph M, and Tomahawk Funk) affiliated with the Soul Assassins crew, known for their funky, weed-infused West Coast party rap with Cypress Hill-esque vibes. This sophomore album (following 1993's Which Doobie U B?) marks their most cohesive effort, executive produced by DJ Muggs, with production split between Muggs and DJ Ralph M (plus contributions from DJ Lethal and others).
It amps up the explicit, controversial content—especially Son Doobie's "Porno King" persona on tracks like "Superhoes" (featured on the Friday soundtrack)—while delivering dusty boom bap beats, humorous boasts, and laid-back flows. Critics praise the improved rapping and Muggs' gritty production but note the heavy sexual themes can overshadow the stronger moments.

Firmly in the hip-hop genre with West Coast, boom bap, and G-funk influences, it's a mid-90s underground favorite for fans of Cypress Hill, House of Pain, or playful yet raunchy golden era rap—often seen as their peak before lineup changes.
